Main Street Life · Updated October 9, 2026

Main Street Life is a free multiplayer game you play in your browser at mainstreetlife.app. You can play as a guest or create an account to carry your progress between devices. This page explains what the game keeps about you and why. We don't sell your information, run ads or use ad trackers.

Guest play and accounts

You can play as a guest without giving us an email, phone number or real name. The first time you play, our server gives your browser a random private key so it can recognize your player next time. If you clear your browser data, that key is gone and the game will treat you as a new player. If you create an account with email and password or Google, Clerk handles sign-in and your login details. Main Street Life receives an account identifier to connect your player profile and save; we don't store your password.

What we keep

Guest progress stays in your browser. When you sign in, the game keeps a private copy of your progress on our server and syncs it between devices when you're online. A local copy remains on your device too.

AI characters

Some characters in the game answer what you type using AI. What you type to them, plus some game details such as the character's role and your character's name, is sent through our server to Anthropic, which provides the AI, to write the reply. Anthropic handles it under its commercial terms, which don't allow using it to train its models. Please don't type real personal information into these chats.

Keeping chat safe

Slurs and harassing phrases are blocked out automatically before anyone sees them. You can block any player, which hides their messages and character from you; your block list stays on your device. You can also report a player or a message. Reports go to the team, and the player isn't told who reported them. If several players report the same person, their chat is paused until the team reviews it. Players who break the rules can be muted or banned, and a ban removes their player card and chat messages.

What we don't do

Who can see what

Your username, player card and chat posts are visible to other players. Your account-linked save is private from other players. Clerk handles sign-in details; our server uses an account identifier to link your save and player profile. The game's owner and hosting providers can access data stored on the server as needed to operate the game.

Deleting your information

In the game, open Help › Safety and account › Delete my account. This removes your Main Street Life player profile, chat messages, feedback and account-linked game save from our server, and erases the saved game on this browser. It does not delete the separate sign-in account managed by Clerk. Email hello@mainstreetlife.app if you also want that sign-in account removed or can't access the game; we'll handle requests within 30 days. Reports you sent about other players are kept so the team can finish reviewing them.

Kids

Main Street Life is made for teens and adults. It includes dating and bars, and it isn't meant for children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has posted something, email us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will also be announced in the game.
